My mother seems to be concerned that I've given up on guys forever haha

Mama: I think you should stop thinking that Singaporean men are scum.

Me: Huh, I haven't been saying that for a long time what. (after having been scolded for saying it too many times by my guy friends, see below)

Mama: Well, not all Singaporean men are scum.

Me: Anyway, you don't really have a case, since you married a Malaysian!

Mama: Er... That's because in my time all the Singaporean guys were not mature enough!

Me: See?

What girls think

There is no need to quote my individual girl friends in this entry (many of whom have had firsthand experience with the scumminess of guys, Singaporean or otherwise). I estimate if I took a straw poll, it'd all go something like this (you might be able to recognise yourself) -

Friends #1-10: Singaporean men are scum!

Friends #11-20: There are some good men, but they're all either gay or married!

Friends #21-30: *brandishing pitchforks* ALL MEN ARE SCUM!!

Friends #31-40: Men are scum. If you find a good one must intro hor?

My guy friends' two cents worth

Jeremy Mong: If you keep saying that Singaporean men are scum you'll never get married!

Viknesk (who's from Penang, defending his Singaporean brothers): Yeah, you better watch out!

Jeremy: If you say it to other guys you'll get bashed! (to Viknesk) The only thing that's stopping us from bashing her is that she's so small and squealy.

Viks: Yeah, that's right! She squeals quite a lot doesn't she? And she is rather small!

Me: WHAAT?

Zichun: Well, you shouldn't expect guys to think like you also cos you're a girl.

Me: But I wasn't a "girl" until the age of 20! I had more 'guy' interests than most guys!

Zichun: Face it, you're a GIRL... You think like a girl... You don't think like a guy no matter how much you'd like to think you do...

Me: .....

Me: By the way, there was an article on Angela Zhang in the papers last Monday!

Zichun (happily): Oh! Did you save a copy for me?

Me: Haha... I just saw it myself when going through old newspapers lah...

Zichun: ...But I think I'm not as enthusiastic about Angela as before...

Me: WHY?

Zichun: Haha, I don't know, maybe it's because 2 years are up... I used to be similarly crazy about other female celebrities before also..

Me: 2 YEARS??? But with famous/fictional people it [unrequited love] can last longer than with real people haha... I've remained faithful to Wedge Antilles for 7 years already!

Zichun: That only goes to show... that I am a guy, and you are a girl!

Note: Please do not bash me. I don't really think that all Singaporean men are scum... Just most of them... :D

Edited to add: One thing that's even more frustrating than men are though is - COMPUTERS.
